Lotus are aquatic plants which can grow in shallow (2-4 foot) ponds. They are very aggressive and can take over a pond if planted directly into the mud. They are also well suited to being grown in large pots which will keep them in bounds.

There are numerous lotus hybrids. The variety we have is the Sacred Lotus, Nelumbo nucifera. It’s flowers last almost 3 days. They start out pink and fade to a beautiful near white.
